2What Caused the Recall?
According to an announcement by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled products are potentially contaminated with listeria, a foodborne bacteria. The bacteria is found in some types of produce, milk, and of course, cheeses, and can cause flu-like symptoms, gastrointestinal distress and in some cases, neurological issues. The contamination was found during a routine sampling, and no illnesses have been reported so far. However, the FDA is urging consumers to be on the lookout for affected products that may already be in their fridge.
